Every referral begins with a question. A child may be struggling at school, having difficulty with attention or memory, showing developmental or behavioral differences, or living with a medical condition that can affect brain development.
ClearStep evaluations are designed to bring the relevant information together and provide a clearer, more useful understanding of the child as a whole.
Each evaluation is individualized based on the referral question, developmental history, medical history, and your child’s unique needs.
Comprehensive Neuropsychological Evaluation
A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation examines how different areas of brain functioning work together and how they affect learning, behavior, emotions, and everyday functioning. The specific tests are selected based on the referral question, developmental history, medical history, and the child’s individual needs.
Areas that may be assessed include:
Intellectual functioning
Attention and concentration
Executive functioning
Learning and memory
Language
Visual-spatial skills
Processing speed
Academic achievement
Emotional and behavioral functioning
Social functioning
Adaptive functioning
Motor or fine-motor skills when clinically appropriate
The goal is not simply to produce scores. Dr. Wolfe integrates test results with developmental, medical, educational, behavioral, and contextual information to develop a meaningful picture of the child’s strengths, vulnerabilities, and support needs.
Psychological / Diagnostic Evaluation
For some referral questions, a focused psychological or diagnostic evaluation may be more appropriate than a full neuropsychological evaluation.
This may include assessment of:
Attention
Developmental concerns
Emotional or behavioral functioning
Intellectual functioning
Autism-related concerns
Diagnostic clarification
Learning & Academic Evaluation
When the primary concern involves reading, writing, mathematics, academic progress, or a possible learning disorder, evaluation can help identify the pattern of strengths and weaknesses contributing to school difficulty and provide recommendations for intervention and educational support.
